DANCE

State of Emergency Mission Possible 2009State of Emergencyis at the forefront of pushing the boundaries in the development and profiling of dance of the African Diaspora in the UK. We are making positive changes in the national dance ecology, and have gained recognition for creating a strong place for these forms in the national culture.

State of Emergency is pursuing this vision through the driving force of The Mission programme – a unique umbrella of performances, showcases, tours, festivals, conferences, training and professional development. Our productions provide opportunities for Black choreographers to work with the company to create original dance theatre.

State of Emergency leads the field in showcasing new choreography and performance, alongside a range of activities, which have influenced the programming agenda of UK venues, developing new audiences and increasing the profile of Black dance nationally and internationally.
